Two Original hand-drawn (note these are NOT photocopies) storyboard pages from the 1st Season Main Title Sequence of GI JOE. These were drawn by the lead storyboard artist of GI JOE, Will Meugniot, and were completed in May 1985. On the back of each page is a rough drawing of a female GI JOE character, presumably also drawn by Meugniot.
The Main Title sequence of GI JOE is one of the most recognizable openings from any cartoon ever from one of the most successful toy lines ever. In the 1960s, GI JOE became the first toy to be labeled an action figure. The 1980s cartoon marked a Renaissance for the toy line. Hasbro's dual marketing strategy of a comic book and cartoon along with the release of figures similar in size to Star Wars figures, but instead with highly articulated and posable limbs, led to GI JOE being one of the most successful toys of the 80s. These storyboards are important artifacts with relevance to the history of cartoons, toys, and the 1980s in general. The item "2x Storyboards GI JOE 1985 Main Title Opening Original Production Art G.
